About Pediatric Professionals
Pediatric Professionals is a free, evidence-based pediatric reference for parents, caregivers, and clinicians. Our goal is to answer the questions that most often come up between visits — at 3 a.m. with a feverish toddler, the night before a well-child check, or in the days after a tonsillectomy — with clear, sourced, plain-language guidance.
Who reviews our content
Our clinical content is medically reviewed by Ryan Mitchell, MD, board-certified pediatric otolaryngologist (ENT). Dr. Mitchell is a board-certified otolaryngologist (ear, nose, and throat surgeon) who specializes in pediatric ENT care. He completed medical school at the Penn State University College of Medicine, residency in otolaryngology–head and neck surgery at the University of Washington, and fellowship training in pediatric otolaryngology at Seattle Children's Hospital, and practices with HCA HealthONE in the Denver, Colorado area. His specialty, board certification, and training can be verified on his hospital profile and provider profile.
Every medical article on this site carries a byline and a “last reviewed” date so you can see who stands behind the guidance and when it was last checked.
Editorial and sourcing policy
We build each guide from primary, authoritative sources — the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery (AAO–HNS), U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) product labeling, and peer-reviewed pediatric literature — rather than from other blogs or unsourced summaries. Key claims are cited on the page in a “Sources & references” section.
Content is reviewed periodically and whenever a relevant guideline, recommendation, or medication concentration changes. If you find something that is out of date or that you believe is in error, please tell us — we take corrections seriously and will update the page and its review date.
How this site is funded
Pediatric Professionals is operated by Packochee LLC and is kept free through display advertising. Advertising is independent of our clinical content: advertisers do not review, approve, or influence what we write, and we do not sell or share the medical inputs you enter (weights, ages, and medication selections stay in your browser and are not transmitted to us). See our Privacy Policy for details on cookies and advertising.
Important
